I want to replace the wheel bearings on the most common 5 inch main wheels. Anyone know the mfgr and part numbers so I can buy the wheel bearings before removing the wheel. (my Pulsar blocks the plane behind me, so I can't leave it jacked up very long. If it makes any difference, I have band brakes.
Also- what mountain bike shock strut works best on the nose strut. Make and model number and source. Any difficulty installing it? Thank You.

I used a Fox Vanilla FRFXV6515900 racing shock 6.5" X 1.5". As I recall, it came with a spring that was too heavy so I had to change the spring. Sorry, I cannot recall the spring rating for sure, but I think it came with a 900 lbs rating and I changed it to 475 lbs.
Two things are important - 1. Use a high quality shock - there is some really cheap stuff out there that you need to avoid. 2. These shocks were never intended to be loaded in extension. Extension travel would normally be limited by the suspension system. Therefore a safety cable needs to be attached from the gear attachment point to the upper bracket.
I have had this setup for several years with no trouble.
Hope that helps some,

You have to know the manufacturer of the wheels. It may be Cleveland. Then ask them for new bearings. But why would you want to replace them? Unless you take them apart and see fretting on the bearing surfaces due to no grease, I would wonder why. Take the wheels off and grease the bearings, that should be all that is needed. It only takes 1/2 hour to do that. If you have a model with sealed bearings, that is not even necessary.
