Never thought of it but after I installed the clear PVC 1/2" sight gauge
from Aircraft Spruce one of the pilots suggested a floating ball in the
gauge so you could see the level easier. Has anyone done this and what do
you use and where do you find such a ball?

If anyone is looking for an engine have a spare Lyc 0290-D2, 135 HP with
about 100 hours SMOH. Will sell cheap to get it out of my garage. Email me
direct for info.

Bob

I assume you are talking about a sight-gauge where the tube parallels the tank-side with a top/bottom fitting – yes, have seen this used to add clarity – obviously you want a ball large enough that won’t fit through the fitting and migrate to the tank itself…

In the simplest of CH701s I’ve wondered if the early-Piper wing-style float-sight-gauge might not work as well – the kind that hangs below the wing, not the cowl-tank variety… certainly vulnerable to impact and might add a spot of drag, but doubt if the drag would be noticed in the 701…
