Garner sent me a set of the new, thicker brake fairings.  They are about twice as thick.  

I know I complain a lot about the quality, fit, and finish on a lot of parts, and I was ready to complain about these.  

Garner says they are each 8 oz heavier.  I didn't compare them, so, I'll take his word for it.  

Now, after installing them, I can say, 

"I only wish every part fit as well as these do.  Beats the hell out of the earlier ones."

Being thicker makes countersinking for the washers a LOT easier.
