Do I even need a box to put the battery in? The AGM batteries don't give off gases.

When I got the field approval 337 for the aft battery I had to put a vent tube in and drill a hole in the lower skin. Since the AGM Concorde battery had the vent and since the original design had a vent the FAA inspector said it was required for my field approval. Unless I wanted to go thru a series of tests and get backup data from Concorde to prove out a new design it was suggested by the field inspector to just put in the drain
But you are right about there not being a physical need for the drain for the AGM battery. You can even mount them on their side or upside down.

They don't vent gas in normal operation and allegedly will not leak electrolyte even if the case has a hole. However they do have a pressure release valve that can blow if they are being severely overcharged, releasing oxygen, hydrogen, and perhaps some acid vapor.

The RG-35 doesn't have a vent tube like the 24 volt does.

Oh yeah, Mine is the one with the manifold top that is a direct fit replacement for the Tiger battery mount. The manifold has the ears on it for the wing nuts to screw down onto the rods to hold the battery into the mount.
I used the lightest version of the specified battery for my Tiger and never have any start problems due to lack of voltage. That's with the high power requirement of the Skytek starter too. Why do you want to put in a heavier battery than the stock battery? There are other things you can do to get the tail induced drag down.....
Probably by the time you get an STC the new Lithium ion batteries will be available for our grummans. You might want to consider that before investing a lot of time into a battery that will probably fade away in the not to distant future. The lithuim ion battery will be half the weight of the current battery. Maybe even less

I was thinking the G-35 due to the losses in the cables. Maybe I'm over working the problem. I can still put the smaller battery in the larger rack. Just can't go the other way.
The LiOn battery would be a good choice. It looks like a good idea. Question is, when will they be approved?

The Saber Toothed Tiger has the G-35 in the back with 00 cable but it's cranking 6 cylinders
It uses the piper box like in the photos I sent earlier

I've been looking for an AC that covers the battery box. From what I've found about boats with AGM batteries, the AGM battery doesn't need a box to trap vapors like the wet battery.

Apparently, the Ercoupe doesn't need a battery box with the Concorde RG25 battery.
"The Exide AC-54 battery was equipped with a vent fitting for the overflow tube (P/N F54090-14). The Concorde CB-25 does not have a provision for connection to an overflow tube. Therefore, the Exide AC-54 battery may be replaced by the Concorde RG-25 battery only. The RG-25 battery does not need an overflow tube. When installing a Concorde RG-25 battery in place of the Exide AC-54 battery, the vent tube may be removed or tied off to the side of the battery. The original battery tray assembly (P/N F54091) may have rounded corners that will interfere with the square shape of the Concorde RG-25 battery. Similarly the different location of the battery terminals may not allow the use of the battery top assembly (P/N F54094 or 800314). When installing the Concorde RG-25 battery, the battery tray must have square corners and the top hold down assembly must not interfere with the battery terminals. The battery tray may have to be replaced with a F54091-101 battery tray assembly and the battery top hold down assembly may have to be replaced with a F54094-101 assembly"
