I am now installing my radio
I have some left over RG58 A/U cable braided outer and core
The question I have is : I have Belden 8259 and Xcom recommends Belden 8219.
Can anyone help me with the difference if any?
Thanks
Will

Will-
There are all sorts of grades of RG58AU. Some cable TV companies use it and it is trash. Radio Shack sells it, and it is trash. Other suppliers sell it and it is OK. If you don't know the source, it is not worth the risk. I'd either go with the manufacturer's recommendation or high quality RG-400

"Left overs" can be anything. A particular danger with coax is moisture
creeping in at the ends. This causes huge losses. But if it hasn't been
used outside it is probably ok.

Standard recommendation is always for high quality cable. The truth is
that the lenght needed for your airplane is so small that the losses are
not meaning anything. Use the cable with the lowest weight. I used RG58
A/U for my europa and it works perfect.
