Is the firewall footprint of a sp100 the same as that of a Pulsar lll ,
Could a 3300 firewell fwd kit for a pulsar lll be grafted onto a sp100?
any ideas? Bill S Pulsar lll 912 #528

I believe it is Bill! I remember Solly talking about how he got that O200
stuffed in that firewall/cowl area!

Hi Bill, the firewall forward kit is exactly the same for both the Pulsar 111 and the SP100. I had an SP100 with a 3300 firewall forward installation and another friend has a Pulsar 111 with the same 3300 firewall forward kit and it all works the same. I think you will find that the same firewall was used for both and the extra width of the SP100 happens over the wings where the fuselage flares out.
cheers
Kym

Hello Tom and Bill S, It was a Continental IO-240 B that Solly put on the
prototype SP 100. I helped him obtain that engine from an Eagle 150 airplane
that HGL was distributing in this country. See here:
http://www.avweb.com/news/newacft/182746-1.html
(The engine had been slightly damaged in shipment into this country.)
That was also the engine that caused Solly to emergency land the SP 100 when
his fuel tank selector system was set up to draw fuel from one tank and
return the bypassed fuel and vapor to the other tank. But there was so much
fuel being bypassed (a normal condition for that engine's fuel system) that
the first tank ran dry.
Since the crankcase for the IO-240 was adapted directly from the O-200 the
mounting points on the firewall would be the same for both engines, but
different cowling could be required to provide for the difference between
the carbureted O-200 and the fuel injected IO-240.
'OC' Baker Says: "The best investment we can make is the time and effort to
gather and understand knowledge."

Hello Bill,
I was out of touch for a full week so I could'nt respond to your question. I'll add a bit to what had already been posted here.
The SP100 shared the same FWL footprint as the pulsar III and you could mount a Rotax FWL FWD package onto a SP100. You'll need to mount the battery on the FWL to compensate for the lighter engine. Another good option was the Jabiru 3300.
Jabiru has a FWL FWD kit for it.
Hope this helped.
