Just a thought, but for those looking into the option of fitting switches to
the door lock pins.
Perhaps you could consider the "car door" interior light switch. The older
style have a travel of about 1 inch
And would fit neatly into the back of the tube in the door frame.
Just an idea

Craig, Looked at those, they have quite a strong spring, together with vibration they could end up opening the door!!!!!

I have seen many available, some had very soft (read Cheap) springs that I could easily push with my little finger
I a car I doubt they would last very long, but in your aircraft how much does it really get used.
