I would like to purchase a set of metric mandrels to assemble the flex hoses and reusable fittings on yak aircraft. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone installed a Dynon in their Yak and has anyone used the Dynon engine gauges?
I need to know if there are special sending units required. If so what and where might I find these.
Thanks.

Clarify the statement "completely standard sending units/sensors". What did they change in the last three years since I looked at it. Are you using the YAK stock tach drive or using a P lead wire to sense RPM. Have they changed the program in the EMS to give %RPM? What adapters are you using to tie into the fuel and oil sending unit?
I'm asking because I'm preparing to hang my M-14PF tomorrow so I have a fairly blank slate to work with.
Thanks,
Doc

Sorry, I'm talking about the Dynon standard sensors. I'm using p lead wire.
I'm using RPM not % . Im using the dynon oil temp/pressure sensors. You
can use the standard fuel tank sensors they just have to be calabrated with
the new system. I also am using 9 EGT and 5 CHT since the EGT will react to
a problem before the CHT.

That answer your questions?

The Dynon EMS is working flawlessly in my CJ. I have the Sky View system (as does DaBear) and am very pleased with it. There is an adapter for the tach drive, or you can take it off the p-leads. The only parameter it does not monitor in my set up is air pressure.

We're a Dynon dealer and offer a discount to Red Star users.

Hope this helps.

Happy Flying,

Barry

And speaking of topic-slip, I am still trying to figure out how one gets directly from flex-hose mandrels to Dynon engine monitor sensors. Smile
I think I will start a new thread so that others can follow.

No, not unless the topic passes through fuel imbalance first. A proper statistical analysis will show the acceptable order and transition of topics. And I think we are about due to revisit the downwind turn as well.

But then I thought better of it. While I like to talk about the design of engine monitors (yes, I have designed one) I am not sure anyone else *really* cares. Have a great day!

Was the synthetic vision over kill for these airplanes? I would like it but in a yak that really doesn't go far, is it worth the extra money?

Brian, send me a copy of the yak list itinerary. I've misplaced mine.

I think that is a personal preference. I find an iron-gyro panel with a simple VOR/ILS receiver to be simplicity itself and amazingly low workload but it requires discipline to maintain the "situational awareness picture" in my head. The more often I fly, the easier it is to do. I suspect that, the less IFR you fly, the more useful synthetic vision becomes. YMMV.

Just do a search from the web site and pick up the dates. It'll only take a few minutes to compile the list yourself.
