Last week I attended a class for the renewal of my IA. Precision Airmotive LLC had a class on their fuel injection system. One of the subject was the "Silver Hawk EX" for Experimental aircraft engines. They said that it will work on the Jabiru and that they were testing it on a plane in Tenn. They are talking about Three thousand dollars to install the system. Apparently there is a spring in the mechanic pump that can be changed out to increase the fuel pressure to twenty psi. So you have to install a electric fuel pump that will give you twenty psi. The intake tubes have to be modified to take the injectors. The injectors need a straight shoot at the intake valve.

From what I've read so far, the South African system is NOT direct
port injection, so perhaps the same old manifold is still there
waiting to cause havoc over the fuel distribution issue. And I think
I also read that their FI system is on hold right now, due to the
departure of one of the "brains" of the system?
I'm with you, John...I like the simple approach when possible, and my
gravity-fed TBI fills that bill for now.

A plane in Tennessee, you say? I wonder who would in Tennessee
would qualify
to participate in the development of a Jabiru FI system.
I was guessing it was going to be the South African system, but I
confess to
a preference for the simpler mechanical approach. I guess I spent
too many
years as an EE to trust an electronic system.
