Ron,
I used sikaflex on my canopy. It was a recommendation from an AP that I
change the aluminium hoops to 4130. I did this and added another hoop to
hold the front and rear hoops in place in case of a roll over. I sikaflexed
the canopy to both the front and rear hoops. Screws hold the canopy to the
side rails as the plans show.
Check out http://zodiac.cpc-world.com and have a look at the pictures under
"Builders Log" -> "Building Photo's" -> "Page 3". Down towards the bottom of
the page you can see how I did it.
I masked the canopy were the sikaflex was going to adhere to make clean up a
little easier. I have an aluminium sheet that covers the front hoop down to
the bottom edge of the canopy. I put some plastic tape outside of the canopy
to cover the rear hoop adhesion point. It looks good.
Make sure the sikaflex is fresh. It goes out of date very quickly.
I am happy with the result although it's a bit more fiddly to do than with
screws but I feel it is a much stronger bond. If you have got this far with
the canopy you know what fiddly is!!!
Cheers
Peter

This is an option that I also am considering.
There are several RV builder logs out there showing how it's done.
If I recall well, the builder must protect the glue against sun light, as it weakens the glue (this may be outdated info: it's been a while since I looked into it).
One of the drawbacks I see is that if the canopy needs replacement, then all parts glued to it go to the trash as well, as opposed to a canopy attached with screws.
