Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get control wheels refurbished? My control wheels are starting to peel and look pretty bad. I have seen several options such as leather covers but wondered if anyone has found a solution that really looks good. Also, has anyone ever replaced the lower plastic panel where the the rocker switches and throttle are located? How labor intensive is it to replace? Mine is beginning to look really bad and has several cracks.

I have "refurbished" a lot of yokes. In the process, I drill them for built in PTT. They look very professional. AND . . .  No visible wires.  It's time consuming and expensive. Figure about $320 delivered. 



I strip them, sand blast them, have them chem-film plated, drilled, powder coated, and wired with PTT buttons and shielded 2-wire twisted pair. 



I've powder coated with gloss black, satin black, black wrinkle, black and gold hammertone, black and silver hammertone, and dark gray wrinkle. I've also had the yoke shaft powder coated with satin black. The black yoke shaft looks really cool with the powder coated yokes.

I powder coated mine a charcoal gray that has a greenish tint that  matches the interior of our 79 Tiger. The original coating came  off easy and I was surprised by how rough the control wheel castings were  under the original coating. I smoothed them out and applied more powder than  usual to help fill in the imperfections. They turned out nice but some of the  pits in the original casting can be seen if you look close.

I have a set of Gary's yokes in my Tiger, and they look so much better than the originals. Nice and clean, no wires hanging out by your leg for the PTT.

Anyone ever purchase/install leather yoke covers from Warren Gregoire? They seem pretty nice. You can even get the PTT built in if you like.

the buttons are cheesy.  they get ragged and worn looking.  Lots of people do cheap.  it looks cheap.

And if removed from the shaft how does one re-install the yoke and rivet?

I reinstall the yoke with a bolt.  They can be delivered either with or without the shaft attached.
