Has anyone tried or considered gap seals for either the ailerons or the flaps?

I wonder if it would help or hurt performance?

I think the flaps actually depend on air flowing from the underside of the wing
to help with airflow.  but maybe not?  I am not an aeronautical engineer nor
have I tried anything.

The RV-10 has slotted flaps that depend on air from the underside of the wing being injected through the gap, energizing the air on the top surface of the flaps to help keep the airflow attached. Flap effectiveness would decrease significantly if the gap were sealed.
