Since my last posting I got several mails from people who are interested
in my experience with the ULPower engine.
So I might not be the only user of that engine for long.
If you are considering the possible use of one of the ULPower engines in
your projected Lightning, remember that these engines need a fuel return
line and a connection to your tanks . I used A/C Spruce`s part no.
AN867-2 , which has a smaller inner diameter than the feed line
flanges that are already in the tanks. As you can see I had to epoxy
them on from the outside. It worked, but it was something I wish I had
avoided.
So you can do yourself a big favor and ask for a set of those fuel
tank connector fittings when you order your kit, to be installed from
the inside of the tank as they should be .
You can simply close them up with plugs if you reconsider and go for
the Jabiru engine .
