How many CHT sensors in an i914 ROTAX engine? According to ROTAX manuals there's a total of 3. So, what happens if you only monitor 2? Can the 3rd sensor be capped or just left disconnected?

1 CHT sensor is on cylinder head 3, 1 is on cylinder head 2, and 1 for oil temperature

If it is like the 912 then one cylinder is consistently hotter than the
other (pusher vs. tractor). But I can't recall the specifics. I think the
Rotax docs even mention this.

The CHT's are just blind holes into the metal edge of the #1 cyl. They measure the metal temp, not water temp. If no sensor is in there then it isn't an issue. The third sensor the manual mentions is the oil temp sensor. It mentions it because all three of these sensors are identical. I personally would use both CHT's and at least hook up #3 & #4 EGT's. If you want all 4 EGT's that's up to you.

Ha,
It's a trick question!
There is no i914, at least not for a few years!
