Does anyone know where I can get replacement air vents for both the pilot and co-pilot. The ones I have now are worn out and broken. The vanes are loose and will close the second you take your hand off of them. The fresh air is really needed on the warm days!! I have yet to find a suitable replacement for this plastic part.

I just bought some of the clip in air fresheners to keep the vents from closing. Excel Air sells new vents that are "certified" but they are a little expensive.

The ones that John S. sells at Excel-Air are DEFROST vents. They are NOT the fresh air vents below the control yokes.

The OEM parts were from some 60's car, and the supply of them ran out several years back. I've seen various alternative vents installed.

The air vents from Excel Air are outstanding, with much better air control, both volume and direction. They use eyeball style vents, and are modern and attractive, far better than the '70s sedan air vents that were stock.

1. They are well worth the design, construction, and certification cost.  I have them and highly recommend them.
2. If we expect to have vendors provide replacement or improved parts for our planes, we need to support them.  Flying is expensive, but not having these vendors and parts would be far worse.
3. Excel Air and John, the vent designer, are part of the Good guys, the small group of dedicated companies that support our fleet. Support Them!

A temporary fix that's good for a couple of years is to take them out and sand blast the surface. Enough sand gets into the crannies that it works ok for a few years. Other than that, . . . . Garner once told me to look at the vents in motor homes. Some of them are similar.

Talk to Ken Blackman at Air Mods NW (1-800-PROPELLER).  He has a way to make some aftermarket automotive ones fit... little waterjet cut aluminum adapter plates.

I have the Excel air vents (below the yoke) that John used to sell. I think he stopped making those because of manufacturing issues (?). Not sure. Anyway, they're great eyeball types. You might want to call Excel and just see if there are any left stuck in a shelf somewhere.

I have a "brand new", never used set of the vents Ken Blackman at Airmods Northwest used to sell. I won them as a door prize at AYA2006. I no longer have a plane so...

Make me an offer. Figure $9 to ship them to continental US.

In case this becomes a bidding war for these vents, I think they should be at least $150, even more since we all need them.

So my offer $175 plus shipping, and I know that is a still a good price.

Bill,
Why not make a faceplate over the entire airbox. Make it out of .020 aluminum, paint it flat black.
Then install three or four of these per side.
http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/plasticeyeball.php

Lots cheaper.
