Hi Paul,

I managed to sit on the pilot´s seat, so far.
And saw more than expected.

Cheers, Raimo

PS: we have a little Europa Fly-in (Europa Aircraft Nordic) here in Finland next weekend. Are you going to participate? At least one American Europa Operator will do!!!

Everybody who flies Europa is welcome. Just contact me! Location EFJM, 1-3.6.2012.

Hi Raimo,

I took a look at your photograph and it looks very nice. I do have one question though, where do you sit? Smile

Cheers, Paul

Hi Richard,

how about this?

The camera was aproximately there where is my my head when flying.
The Master ASI is well visible but a skid/ball and panel´s lower port corner not (there are some fuses, switches and a key),
In the other hand IPad´s mount is easily adjustable so I can turn it 90 degrees if I wanna see whole panel (but then IPad is not visible).

Notice: this configuration with also a new TruTrak´s Gemini ADI with TCW`s IBBS and Garmin´s 35HVS and FDS´s FC-10 fuel comp with GPS and only ONE fuel transducer has not been in the air yet but tomorrow it will. Wish me luck.

Here's how I did my iPad mount. It is a RAM mount system I purchased last year at AirVenture. It can be adjusted a fair bit to bring it closer to the pilot or to allow the passenger to operate it.

From the back, showing the mount:

I think the clamping bar should be turned so the tightening fixture is down. That way it can be operated more easily from the front of the unit.

I may get another ball mount and try it on the mount location on the right and middle of the mount as it may provide more freedom of movement.

Hope this helps.

Barry,

you are right - everything in my plane is up-side
down. Obviously that is why I get headache when
flying. Thanks for info!

Seriously:

- (My) Dynon is quite slow to react and this new
Gemini ADI is VERY sensitive (would like to adjust
it to be slower)
- in this situation plane was descending a bit
like plane´s VSI is showing
- my turn indicator is shit (brand name is Falcon)
and it is rocking like an idiot, I have ordered a
new one

This is a statement of my American friend for your
happiness:

Cheer, Raimo

Hello Barry! Kim Prout here....Raimo and I are
having fun here in Finland and are hoping to see
more Europas at the fly-in.
Anyway, I would agree that the differences in the
instrument readings are disconcerting and
confusing. It was no problem, however to fly
in VFR conditions knowing that the Gemini was
accurate. I would recommend to builders that the
mounting holes for turn coordinator, attitude
indicator,
and heading indicator be slotted to allow for
adjustment of level relative to airplane as the
panel cannot be relied on to be level based on its
fit to the fusalage
and firewall. In N111EU I really do not power up
the turn coordinator or attitude indicator (no
heading indicator installed) unless flying in
marginal conditions. The slip/skid ball works no
matter
what so no issue there. I always thought it
unecessary to power up the gyros with master
switch just wearing them out without really
needing them for the typical
VFR flights. They just seem to be a distraction
when I should have my head up anyway.
I prefer a separate switch for gyro power...only
need to remember to turn them on when anticipating
night, marginal or IFR conditions.
OH-XRT is nicely equipped with two important
features: fuel flow totalizer with GPS interface
and wing leveler/GPS tracking. I do not have a
wing leveler in my Europa
but I rely on my totalizer for cross country trips
(and I still have a rugged sight gauge at footwell
for verification).
Raimo's ipad mount is nice with the suction cup
mount and brings the display close to his body...
sandwiched a little tight but you can find
numerous other locations. I know other
Europa flyers who use the ipad and are replacing
some of their instruments with that...need a
reliable power source though.
Let me know about your flying experiences in your
Europa please, photos appreciated too.
OK...nice to be here and good to chat with you!
kim

Hi You 2,

Have fun this weekend.

I'm stuck inside renovating the kids apartments this weekend. I am trying to steal the time to fly down to Bruno's club airfield open day tomorrow for a couple of hours.
Because my first flight was in 1997 all this digital "schnick schnack" was not available. However like you I use a fuel totaliser which I think should be compulsory as should a fuel pressure warning lamp.
My Skymap is coupled to a wing leveler / A.P. and thats it.
Its enough to get me from Spain to Scandinavia.
I also used to use only an electric turn coordinator in reduced visibility but now I have a horizon as well.

Hope to meet you some time.

Barry

Hello Barry,

yes - I have same opinion; a fuel totalizer is a
very useful equipment. That is why I installed it.
It is almost magic how accurate it shows how much
you spend, how much you have, how much you need to
your leg and how much you will have still left
after arrival to your destination etc. It coupled
to the 3rd GPS (Garmin HVS-35). I also have a fuel
pressure gauge which can give an early warning in
certain situations. That has once made my day.

We had really fun! Singing karaoke, having sauna,
good food and nice drinks and for example flying
Comp-Air 8 with a Walter Turbine (what a boost!)
with a mandatory deal baleing out! Kim was there
because he was awarded to get "The Longist
Distance to Come" (from LA California) and I was
there because because awarded to get "The Shortest
Distance to come" (40 nm from EFTP). I flew
together with Kim about 6 hrs and that was
awesome. He is a man with great Europa experience
and clear thoughts as well as wonderful sense of
humour.

The weather during the weekend was mostly between
acceptable and good, flights from EFTP to ESVB, to
2xEFJM and to EFHF and back succeeded as planned
on Wed, Fri, Sun and Mon with a good VFR
marginals.

All the participants of EAN 2012 got a miniature
composite fast build (aluminium!) kit "Europa
MultiG" to complete with four (4) different
landing gear style to suit for every possible
taste.

Read more from the next Europa Magazine!

You are always welcome here. How about EAN 2013
???

Cheers, Raimo
