For those with Rotax 582 w/C-Box knowledge… is there a gasket or O-ring to seal where the gearbox mates with the engine block/case? I see what looks like an O-ring in some illustrations, but not in others.

No, the mating surface there is dry. All that's in that section is the donut and the connecting shafts between the crankshaft and the gearbox.
