All,
I had an 'oh no'! I flew the Pulsar to Las Vegas, New Mexico for a
family reunion.
I went out to the field today to find wind damage. The tail tie down
rope was cut or broken, the left wing eye bolt in the wing was bent at
45 degrees and the right one was bent , but not as bad. Some of the
gust locks had worked loose and the flaps were over extended bending
the push rod against the wood on the back spar. The attach point on
each flap is dented and the bent rod has dimpled the wing as the flap
worked in the wind in the up flap position.
I guess it could have been worse if the plane had flipped over.
I pulled all the inspection plates and the only damage that I can find
are the flaps, and the eye bolts. All the hinges are okay.
I am planning to head home tomorrow and just not use the flaps. Sure
hated to see it happen.
Does anyone have or know where I can get a set of flaps for an XP.
