I have just been fitting flow and return EI FP5 fuel sensors using brass NPT hose fittings but they leak, should I use PFTE tape (which is not recommended in case threads of PTFE affect the sensor or block the flow, or maybe compound)

Never use teflon plumbing tape on fuel fitting!
Tape shreds, sheds and blocks carb orifaces
PTFE compound is the way to go if need be.

Best use a special fuel resistant grease, forget name of it. Small amount on threads cured mine. Dave G-ldvo

Greame,

No PTFE tape. There are several brands of PTFE pipe seal compound (SAF-T-LOK, Permatex, Swagelok, LocTite, etc.) that would do the job. They will seal the joint and prevent seizing.

Another solution is Loctite 577. (fuel resistant)

Use Loctite Teflon pipe seal, (sparingly) it's supposed to go to dust when unscrewed. Never use the tape.
