Hi,

 I'm new to this list, and I just purchased a project RG-1.  It's sitting on the gear, which is operational.  This is my introduction to the Glasairs. The project is in Colorado, and I live in Kentucky.  I'm hoping someone can offer advice about the best way to transport this plane.  How hard will it be to remove the wings?  Can the horizontal stabilizer/elevator be easily removed?  Can the fuselage be transported with the engine in place?

 I apologize for what might seem like stupid questions, but I'm trying to figure out the best way to transport this plane, and I don't know anything about the Glasairs.  I'm excited about learning though, and look forward to the day that I can be part of the flying group.

My plane lost a nose gear and I had to transport my plane a long distance  home in a U-haul truck. I removed the wing and engine and placed those  major assemblies on car tires. Part of the wing stuck out of the rear  of the truck as well as the empennage. There are tie rings in those trucks  to secure everything down. When you remove the wing mark the bolts. Bring along  some masking tape to mark the wires. It took pretty near a full day to  disassemble the plane, so get an early start. And you will need a few people to  help you lift things. When I first built my plane I transported it to the  airport on a trailer and had the engine, prop and cowling in the bed of a large  pick up truck along with the ailerons, landing gear, flaps etc. Tying the fuse  and wing down on a trailer is an art in it self. Bring along a camera to  photograph assemblies.
