Hey guys Oshkosh is right around the corner and I know many of you will be shopping for you planes/projects. I just wanted to plug a couple companies that have awesome products and I can't say enough good things about them.
First off if your looking for engine info go see Joe at JPI and order yourself the EDM-740 set up for your M14, you won't be disappointed!!! Its compact, light, fits in a standard panel hole, it has every feature you could want in an engine analyzer, and it's so easy to use and read! If your not looking at all 9 CHTs and EGTs or and you don't have the capability to look at your downloaded data history you could be amazed what you may not know about what's going on with your engine. There's no more guessing about which plug is fouled or a host of other issues that are easily identifiable with this info.
Second if you haven't done so already get a hold of Dave or any of the other great people at Oregon Aero and have them make up some custom seat cushions for your plane. Oshkosh is the best time to do it since they can come right out and measure you sitting in a Model 12. There's nothing worse than not being comfortable in you airplane. They made up a great set of customizable cushions for my passengers as well that velcro together and give me options for people of all sizes. Also if you wear a flight helmet the Oregon Aero helmet upgrades are a huge improvement over the stock components.
Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer you.
Take care and fly safe,
Kendal

I have a JPI 9 cyl analyzer in my Sukhoi . This unit really helps keep all CHT's in a desirable range, and let's you know where plugs are fouled. It provides a record of your associated fuel burn and operating practices. This can be a help for a prospective buyer to demonstrate your operating prowess.
What is sadly lacking is the ability to detect when a given cylinder is degrading. The software is prehistoric. Ideally, the software would tell you when one CHT or EGT is changing relative to the rest without the plot having to build his own spreadsheets. There is great room for improvement here in detecting a cylinder going south before parts with serial numbers end up in the oil screen.
