Thread Friends, I have engine droop. My rubber grommets are too soft and so
it droops. My shame is unbearable. Called Jab this a.m. and they said to put in
the special washers to firm up the rubber. Anybody used these washers and is
there anything special about the locations, size or sequencing of
installation? Best regards, Bill of Georgia

Bill:

You should use the little blue washers from "Pfizer
Engine Noncertified Industrial Services." Here's a
snippet from their website:

"VIAGRAWASHERS (The Little Blue Washers) are the #1
prescribed washers for the condition known as ED
(Engine Droop). VIAGRAWASHERS have been used by over 9
million A&P's and Pilots for the treatment of engine
droop (ED, also called engine-impotence).

There's no need for shame.

Bill,
I had to lower the prop centerline a degree and put aluminum spacer
washers between the mount and
the rubber washers. It worked to get the droop I wanted, so it follows
you might be able to get the same
result in the reverse by putting them on the bottom mounts.

Larry, thanks, I'll try that. Have you noticed any splitting of the rubber
bushing ? I was told by an a & p to be concerned about that if a washer is used
to adjust the engine angle. Best regards, Bill

Scott, I'll see if the blue washers are covered in my HMO. Best to you, Bill

Bill,
No splitting of the bushings at all. If this occurs, I believe the
rubber has aged beyond its useful
life and would replace them.
