I bought a used 696 yesterday. I don’t think it has a power/data cable accessory. I heard about someone cutting the end off the cig lighter power cable and splicing it in to ships power and driving autopilot.. Anyone here have any experience/knowledge if this will work? I wont need the standard as I now have my 296 wired in to ships power and driving my trutrak. I know my 296 cable wont fit the 696.

I have no idea but please be careful about cutting the power cable to some Cig lighter attachments. Some of them have circuit boards in them that perform some function and it can make the attachment useless. Often opening them up before cutting will show you if there are advanced electronics in the plug.
I had a Belkin Bluetooth receiver we cut the power cord to and it cost me a new Belkin Bluetooth receiver.
