Fellow Yak/CJ Drivers,
I attended Osh again this year and although I enjoy much of the event, it is not as enjoyable as it has been in the past. From 1998 through just a few years ago, the YPC/RPA held a clinic at MTW (Manatowoc, WI) prior to Osh and continued to host events at MTW during Osh. Many folks flew over to Osh each day for the mass formation, airshow, shopping, booths, forums, etc. I have to say it was great hanging out with 20-40 fellow flyers and their wives/girlfriends/GiBs etc. Please don't bring BOTH a wife and a girlfriend.
Attending Osh this year wasn't the same as people spread out and didn't get together every day. In discussing this with others who attended and didn't attend Osh this year, there was much interest in MTW. Therefore, I'm going to organize a North Central MTW Clinic during Osh. It is posted the RPA event website.
Please let me know if you are interested, not interested, willing to help, just want to show up and fly, etc.
I will try and have the following during the event:
Airboss/GroundBoss for organizing flights, training, etc.
Standard Formation flights
Tactical Formation Flights
Briefing facilities (EAA hanger?)
Water
Acro Box
Information for local hotels and restaurants
Fuel discount (I'll work on it)
Oil Discount (I'll work on it)
Suggestions?
Thoughts?

After we abandoned MTW, some Yankee Imperialist Dogs in T-34's moved in and claimed what we built. West Bend is available, we were there before and it's a lot closer to Oshkosh. Their EAA chapter has a great facility there. Driving to/from is a lot quicker too when weather closes in. Motels cheaper, etc.

The T-34 Association already has their annual formation clinic starting the Friday prior to OSH at MTW which continues thru the 1st Monday of OSH (arrival show).

Dead Bear,
Will be happy to help out with check rides or instruction any place you decide. However Payne is correct about the T-34 group
taking over MTW. Chevey & I had to land there Sat the 21st and there were few tiedown spots left. The next morning 3 more flights came in as we were departing for OSH. The EAA group there (God bless them) looked like they hand their hands full. I have no idea if the T-34 folks are planning same next year, but the group is starting to make a come back in activity, although they did not fly in any numbers during the show.

Geees the way I remember it he was your wingman when I shot him down.
we changed his call sign from "Dbear" to "Dead Bear". One more turn I might have gotten you too.

When was that? The only one I ever played "tactical" with was Barry.

Oh contrary. We're on our way from a raid on the T34 guys base at Strugin Bay one year at OSH. You & Dead Bear were an element near the back. we didn't, catch the T34 guys because they out on flight. On RTB, I hear you over the RT "shooting" one of our own! I turned back & caught you pulling away from you're dastardly deed & pulled into perfect pursuit lead on your wingman (Dead Bear in a 52) whom I dispatched with easy. The whole time Hal Morley hung diligently to my wing (mostly due to my smooth flying). He will swear to it.
