Hello,
I am hard wiring a Garmin 795 into my Europa. The bare wire kit allows connections to my Sl30 and Dynon kit. However, the audio connections are puzzling me. There are 3 wires, L, R and common.
My original plan was to wire these to an existing audio socket (aux for music etc). Garmin said use the L and R wires only connecting to the 2terminals on the audio plug. The first attempt produced massive interference and a constant series of clicks but l had not used screened wire.
Can anyone please confirm how to make this (simple!) connection? What is the audio common for?
Foe data connections, the 795 Tx connects to the SL30 Rx for VHF freq preselect. The GPS Tx goes to the Rx1 HS34. I also connect the SL30 to the HS34 Rx2.
How can l connect the Tx HS34 to the SL30 as the only Rx terminal is already used?
Is it possible to piggy back 2 inputs to the SL30?
Regards
JW

Hello John,
Concerning the audio connections, not sure what you want to achieve. But if you want to connect the audio output of the Dynon HS34 and the L+R output of the Garmin GPS to the input of the SL30, you will need a mixer. Something like: http://www.fdatasystems.com/Products/AP-60/AP-60.html. The common of the Garmin GPS is the common ground of your audio for the different devices.
Concerning the serial, the installation manual of the Dynon D10A or D100 depicts the connections to the HS34. Basically, you will need to connect one of the Tx/Rx of the GPS to the Rx/Tx HS34 serial 1 and the Tx/Rx of the SL30 to the Rx/Tx of the HS34 serial 2 and configure the HS34 appropriately. According to the Dynon wiki (http://wiki.dynonavionics.com/HS34_FAQ), the HS34 will pass the frequencies from the GPS to the SL30.
Jacques.

Jacques,
Thanks for the link, the AP-60 looks interesting as an audio mixer. This may solve the issues l have. The aim l have is to hear audio alerts from the Dynon (D10A, HS34, AP74 and Garmin 795) plus play music from the iPad. The AP-60 would need to output to my PM-501 intercom aux input so that everything mutes when the Comm is working.
