Hello Sabrina:
I am not sure if the TCAS would work or be accurate enough. The TCAS ignores signals that are too close and intrepids them as your own. You many have to be 0.1 of a Mile away (528 Ft) or 0.1 NM (607 Ft). The readout on the unit has a resolution of only +/-100 Ft. BUT! It would be interesting to try.

My internship at CERN was amazing, Europe was great, and I am now back home for the first time since April.
For those of you who attended AirVenture, how was it?

Steve--if you can find someone who will loan you an older version of the TPAS Proximity detector, it will roll through your altitude and the code you are squawking when you ping your transponder with no other aircraft nearby.
