I am having an issue wth an surge of +/- 50 RPM at full power or cruise (1700rpm) WOT. Begins above 2000ft altitude .Does not surge during static ground run or takeoff. Will sometimes surge +/- 200 RPM airborne . Sure gets your attention. Fuel flow and all other gauges normal . Cylinder head temperature 260-300 degrees F. Have inspected the carb and prop governor . But everything appears normal w/o teardown. Prop is a Chinese JL-2B. Fuel is 100ll av gas. TT on engine and prop 312 hours
I have thought about putting a manual mixture control on.
. Any ideas which way to troubleshoot ?

Thanks,

Hi Gary, Gary here in LAS. I had the same problem
for a lot of hrs after I installed the M-14P.
Then it got really bad. Finally traced it to air
being sucked in around the manual wobble
pump shaft. So tried to seal pump shaft, still had
the problem. Must not have got the shaft sealed
well, still had problem. So removed the wobble
pump and replaced it with an electric pump
Problem went away. Has run fine ever since
So good luck. Gary. CJ22YK
