A friend's engine has abt 300 hrs.
There is no spark at the plugs.
The AC voltage into the ignition modules is abt 9v.
The DC output from the modules to the coils seems to be about 2v.
Can anyone assist with past experience on this?

Hi Peter,
Will the engine start at all?
Because of our dual ignition system it would be rare that all this would go out at one time. it is usually a broken wire.
The spark is so hard to see on a 912 it is best looked at in a darkened atmosphere. The voltage into the regulator with the two yellow wires should be between 18-22 volts AC. If you can't get the engine started or at least up to 240rpm then that would be hard to measure.

Peter, Roger et al, One of the many things impressed upon me at Rotax school was that one should never, ever attempt to try and see the spark by grounding a plug and cranking the engine. Unless you have an extra grand lying around for a new ignition module. First, as Roger noted, it's almost impossible to see. Second, a $10 tool, an Ignition Spark Tester replaces the weak spark with a bright light that makes the test safe and easy to do.
Ignition Spark Testers are available from sources as varied as Harbor Freight and Snap On.

I fully agree. If it is done wrong you can cause damage. I never look for spark and have such a tool to check wire/plug continuity.
