I have finally got G-umpy cleared by the LAA to fly with the new prop but with just me on board it seems to want to roll to the left when hands off. Could this be due to the wide blade creating more airflow round the fuselage. It was trimmed up ok on the warp drive fixed pitch and nothing has changed (I hope!). I can't quite get my head round which way the tab on the rudder should go.

Use 'rudder' trim to fly 'ball centred' then 'aileron' trim to stop any
roll.

Ivan

Graeme, I can't say I noticed any trim changes when I
changed to an SR 3000, but thgen I was coming from a VP
prop where possibly you were coming from a fixed pitch
one. But the Europa is a sensitive craft - when trimmed
and above the thermal layer, I find I can control
ascent/descent like a weight shift microlight by bending
or stretching my legs! And lateral trim is certainly
different depending on having one up or two. No doubt you
know that you can adjust lateral trim by fitting a wedge
X-section strip under one or other aileron, but my advice
if you are going to do any serious touring would be to fit
a single axis autopilot. You can choose to do as much
stick waggling as you like, but it will look after the
most complex route if connected to the GPS, hold things
whilst you refold your chart or find something in the
back, save your life by keeping you on an even keel should
you stray into or get forced into cloud, as well as look
after lateral trim!
Regards, David

Hi Graeme
I have just changed my propeller from a woodcomp scimtar to a SR3000/W
and have found  that now in normal cruise i need a slight right rudder input to keep the slip ball balanced,
This is because the new propeller is more efficient  i believe,

It also gives me a improve 3kts in the cruise, On a sustained full power climb to 5500
last week my oil/water temps remained within limits, Something i couldn't say for the scimitar blades,
regards
Ivor
