David,
I received the below message quoting yours, but not yours in original. Was
there something attached to yours that I therefore did not receive - the LAA
mag article?
Regards
Svein

Bob,
Yes, such is the world sometimes! I read your reply to mean that there is no FAA requirement, but one may certainly wish to receive training (which, as you explain, is difficult to get).
In Norway, we have the similar restriction – no commercial use and no schooling in an amateur-built aircraft. Therefore, if my license should expire, I cannot do the skill test for license renewal in my own Europa. I must rent an airplane from a flying club. In their wisdom (such as it may be), our CAA do permit the mandatory get-familiar-with-this-particular-aircraft training with a CFI in the particular amateur-built aircraft. But no paid or unpaid training for any other purpose in any amateur-built aircraft.
Regards,
Svein

My insurance company required that I get 2 hrs. in a Liberty before they would insure me. It is supposedly close to a Europa. It is worth flying one so you realize how lucky we are to be flying Europas.

David,
Your message with your article in the LAA magazine attached finally got
through - thank you very much for distributing it on the forum.
The article reminds me of the opening statement at an upset recovery
training course I attended in the US before the first flight of my Europa,
which went something like this: Modern airplanes are designed to fly. It
is the pilot who forces it not to.
Regards,
Svein
