How hard would it be to prop a Corvair engine on a CH 701?
I have done it without too much trouble on a C-182.
Anyone with experience proping a Corvair, please reply
Thanks!
John

The compression might be to high. This morning, while pre-flighting, I gave it a good hard push and it didn't pass the compression stroke.
I have a fairly standard WW 2700cc over-bored .060". The volume compression calcs out to 8.48:1. I am using the 66" Warpdrive prop and it has no weight, that might be part of it not passing the compression stroke, no momentum. Having a light prop is really desired on a direct drive auto conversion. The starter and ring gear really doesn't weight that much, and you can start it in the air if required.
When the engine stops, I don't think you could dive and have the wind restart it either.
