Right: but it is NOT necessary with a metal prop. As you say,�the�dampener�ABSORBS pulses which a wooden prop has difficulty with as the mass is not as great as a metal prop, thus there is less to absorb the pulses into. The Harmonic Whatever is not needed with a metal prop; it is not necessary with a wood prop either but nice to have, especially the light ones on experimental aircraft such as an RV.
