John,
The instructions for the Dynon fuel flow meter say to put it in the longest, most undisturbed straight run that is available. My fuel setup is two LE tanks coming to a R/L/Off selector in the middle of the cockpit. Then the fuel line runs downhill to the firewall and 90 degree turn. Then through a bulkhead fitting to the gascolator on the engine side of the firewall. There is no header tank. With that setup, the meter is between the selector valve and the 90 degree turn at the firewall which is the longest straight run I have. It is also downhill and under pressure since the Facet electric fuel pumps are out at the tanks in the wings. Works well but I still use a stick in the tanks to test fuel level before each flight.
