Can anyone tell me what Alternate Air is? In the pilot operating manual in the run up section in line L it says "Alternate Air... open... max. drop 75 rpm... set closed." I'm not sure what that refers to. Thanks for any help.

It is another name for Carburetor Heat for injected engines. Injected
engines have an alternate air source in case the air filter or the intake is
blocked. They do not need additional heat as they do not evaporate fuel in a
venturi and thus no icing in the intake path.
I assume that you are reading a Moose manual for an aircraft with an
IO540 engine, not the M114P engine. The M14P should have Carburetor Heat as
under certain circumstances icing can form in the AK14 carburetor.
