I think that Gary has addressed the gap seal issue pretty well. As far
as the vortex generators are concerned, if there were true gains to be
had by them, someone like Microdynamics would have come out with a kit
for the Tigers/Cheetahs/Travelers by now.
Just out of curiosity, what do you hope to achieve with VGs? Lower
stall
speed? I really don't think you'd see much in the way of a stall speed
reduction. A woman who flies out of the field I do has them on her
177.
She says that she really can't notice whether or not the stall
speed has
gone down. She did report that it seems to handle turbulence better. I
haven't flown that plane, so I'll withhold comment on the turbulence
smoothing aspect of the VGs.
