Just a reminder regarding winter operations; cold oil pressure can quickly build high enough to rupture old lines and dirty oil coolers. Never advance the throttle until those temps come up. Hopefully, the PIC will do a visual check before strapping in.

On Yaks/CJ's equipped with remote oil filters, it is the rubber seal in the filter that SHOULD blow out first. This is much better than a line or oil cooler rupture. The best Prevention is to move South Smile failing that, use a heated hanger the night before ops, every part of the airplane gets warmed. If using heat pads, don't forget the oil cooler.

The filter base and elements I supply with remote kits are rated for 200PSI, that is a common value for most equipment on the market. 200PSI can easily be exceeded in a cold oil cooler when the PIC grabs a hand full of throttle.

Stay Safe... I'm going to stay warm.
