Wings Over Vines - Sonoma Wine Country
June 13 - 16, 2013
Come to Santa Rosa. A Weekend For Couples
The Vineyards of Sonoma With the solemn promise of more wine than wings, and designed to bring joy to your GIB.
Arrive Thursday afternoon at KSTS and park at FBO host Sonoma Jet Center (http://www.sonomajetcenter.com).
Free shuttle to nearby Hilton Garden Inn. Regularly priced at $219/night, but discounted for the RPA to a weekend average of $145/night. For this rate, reserve before May 6th.(http://hiltongardeninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels/california/hilton-garden-inn-sonoma-county-airport-STSAPGI/index.html ). Dinner on your own.
Friday: 0830 briefing at Sonoma Jet Center, followed by a mass formation over the surrounding wine country and a tail chase up the Russian River. Catered lunch back at Sonoma Jet Center's hangar.
For those not flying, a private winery tour of the surrounding smaller exclusive wineries. Price: $70 per person. Lunch additional. (http://www.behindthegatestours.com/home_1.html)
Friday afternoon: Formation training or napping.
Friday dinner: 1830 at Sonoma Airport's Sky Lounge with outside seating and live music. Price: $20 - $30 per person. (http://skyloungerestaurant.com/index.html)
Saturday: 0830 briefing at Sonoma Jet Center followed by formation training, a low-level San Francisco Bay tour, the US Navy mothball fleet and lunch at the Two Niner Diner at nearby Petaluma Airport. Price: $12 - $15 per person
For those not flying, Safari West African Game Tour with lunch at the game park. Tours are about 3 hours. Price: $78 per person. (http://www.safariwest.com/home/)
Saturday night: Dinner at Vintners Inn Restaurant in the midst of a 92 acre estate surrounded by vineyards. Price: $35 - $60 per person. (http://www.vintnersinn.com)
Sunday: Fly home safely.
