I gretaly appreciate any advice anyone can provide.

I'm building an 8, been working on wing ribs all day.
The main ribs were a breeze, tedious but not
difficult. Now I'm working on nose and tank ribs and
am about to fling one out into the street. What's the
secret to straightening these thnigs??!! (I got a few
of them very straight, noticed that the curved side
requires much deeper flutes.) It seems like right
when everything is about to be straight, it *pops* and
then the whole thing is out of whack!

Help!

Thanks in advance,
Bart
Hickory, NC

So you've straightened the arch the ribs might have by fluting them, but
they still have some slight twist in them? Is it the twist that's popping
or the arch? Don't worry about the twist. They can be staightened as you
drill them to maintain the centerline.

You must be the guy looking for the wing stands. They are available,
currently on the west side of Mocksville.

Larry,
Thanks for the quick reply, you nailed it. Been there
done that? Yes, it's a slight twist. I've been
trying to get them to just lay down by themselves.
Very light pressure will put everything straight. Am
I stressing over nothing?

And yes, the wing stands. Len mentioned them to me
back in the fall during the airshow, and I was trying
to get in touch with him to see if they were still
available. Hopefully I'll have the ribs 100% finished
tomorrow AM and can final drill to the spar. After
that, the stands will come in very handy!

Thanks again!
Bart
