Engine hoist ring on Propeller shaft

Some time ago I purchased a stock Housai engine to replace the one I had damaged.  The installation is going smooth but I am having one small issue.  On the Propeller drive shaft is a hoist ring that I and the local maintenance personell at my field cannot figure out how to remove.  Does anyone know of a trick or technique to get this off?  A picture is attached of what I'm talking about.

screws on. no secret . Might need to put a rod through it and tap it . Right turn to tighten, Left to loosen . You might want to heat it up also with a flaming wrench. ( heat gun or propane soldering tank )
