I have been trying to get the jetting of the carburetor correct for some time. The numbers were getting close in January, but now it's May and the temperatures have gone up. When I flew in January I only needed to increase the size of the main jet (280) to get the EGT numbers down. I got laid up between Feb and May and started flying again, but now the numbers went backwards. Now climb out is over rich and the cruise is lean. The engine does not seem to be running smooth as before. Mag checks are OK.
I have been thinking about get the HAC, but I want to get the Full power numbers and cruise numbers closer. '
Any I deals? This is on a Europa which is light and clean. Takeoff is at 72KT and I'm showing 2850+- on takeoff. Once at altitude I level off and pull back the throttle to 3/4 and the EGT go up to above the 720C mark. CHT's are real good. Power full level I'll go over the 3250 limitation on the prop. I can increase the prop pitch, but then the takeoff RPM will go down which will decrease the EGT numbers.
Lots of fun!
