Hi,

My friend went out for a flight today with his Yak 52W.

After take off with booster pump on Fuel press decreased and engine lost power. He had enough power to returne for landing.

Have checked all Fuel filters and no findings except small signs off water in the water seperator just after Fuel shut off cock.

Any suggestions of what to check?

Best regards

For those who enjoy mechanical mayhem, this is a cylinder and broken
connecting-rod from a M 14 V, the helicopter version of the "P". After the
rod broke, the pilot in Hungary continued to fly for about 25 minutes
(remember they have two of the engines, and tend to use 103/104% to get a
bit of extra load capacity for crop-spraying), before landing and saying
that "the left engine is a little down on power"!

Check the lines and all the inbound fuel connections and gaskets on the screen shutoff. Could be you are sucking air in somewhere and not fuel.
If the flapper/check valve gets stuck you could also see a restricted fuel flow. The flapper valve is under your left foot beneath the floorboard. This check valve can also cause you problems when trying to prime the system by not shutting off as well so you would not get a good prime or a good fuel jump on the system side as well.
