Hello all, I have been wanting to put a filter into the oil return line for some time.  I have been looking at various places taking into consideration the heat challenges as well as access. Breaking the paradigm I thought of putting it in the front of the engine?  Great ease of access ,inspection and added cooling. Has anyone done this before?
Have at it!

Most installations have them on the firewall, and access is perfectly good. Also hose length is as short as possible, which helps. The amount of additional cooling would be absolutely minimal when you consider the surface area of the filter compared to an oil cooler!

Thank you Richard.  Im not bypassing the oil cooler. But taking oil directly from the scavenging pump port,  and piping it to the filter (25micron) then returning to the  existing hose en route to the oil cooler.
