Now that I am seriously looking at what will be required to install the Matco parking brake unit and route an actuator cable, I am wondering if it is worth the time and effort. Pros and cons?

I haven't had one, and haven't missed it.

I agree with Larry. Save the weight and hassle. Add another NACA air vent on the right side of the fuselage instead. You will appreciate and use that *way more*.

Maybe once in 4 years flying I thought it would be nice. You can add it any time so I suggest you defer until it flies (DTIF) if you are still building.

Recommend it. You may not need to use it much, but when you need it you really need it.

No need for a actuator cable. Just mount it on the bulkhead between the panel and firewall at the bottom and in the center. Very easy to plumb and you just need to reach under the panel to actuate the lever. Simple.

StanAfter four years and 410 hours on my RV-7A I can think of maybe two or three instances when it would have been nice to have have a parking brake - I'd say forget it - I carry a set of small / lightweight aluminum chocks - they weren't much work - cost only a few pennies - hardly weigh a thing - and  work every time -

Don't bother. 2 1/2 years and haven't needed one. small angle chocks best. You can always add it if you ever find a need.

Agree! I don’t use it very often on either RV but when I do I am really happy to have it. Plus it’s an ultra-simple addition.
