A new use for the M14 P

We were recently approached by one of the major film companies in the UK to produce a very powerful wind machine for films. The obvious solution was an M14P with an old MT prop, and I thought people might like to hear about this project and see a (and not very good) photo of the finished machine.

There were a few practical issues: the control unit of course had to be well offset from the machine itself to prevent the operator being blown away; a "door" had to be made in the protective cage so that the prop could be turned to clear the engine of oil; the engine mount had to be rather different, since we didn't want, or need, the engine to be suspended in the normal way, and of course a normal engine mount would have made the whole device rather long.

In the event, it has worked extremely well, and they have been very surprised by the strength of the wind it gives! However, they have now ordered another one
