I built a box for the Bing Carburetor on the side of my fiberglass cowling to draw air and cut some slots for the air draw, but it looks ugly!

Was wondering if anybody had knowledge of a louvered type plate that I could cover or insert into the cowl to clean it up?

Rick:

If you go to the Van's RV site you will find louvered vents.  These vents are used as Exhaust vents on the bottom of the RV cowl for cooling.
BUT!
My first suggestion would be to look at NACA Ducts.  They are very low drag and have a very high efficiency airflow intake.  They were designed for Carb and fresh air intakes.  They have been around for years and are a proven method.

I made a NACA duct for Bing with a bypass fresh air cockpit vent. Inside flat filter box ,“Y” fitting and scat tubing , fit and paint to match.
