A personal preference issue: On my instrument panel layout, I have been showing a SL-40 located on the vertical centerline below a Dynon D1000 display, however, a trial fit of a mock-up at this location looks awkward due to having to work around the cross braces. Doable, but. A location on the upper left side looks easier and puts the face more at eye level. I have seen radios at both locations, so I’m soliciting feedback based on operational experience. I am planning a single radio installation only, but might opt for the Dynon remote radio as a second unit. The center mount allows for better access by either hand, but I can see the advantages of the upper mount. This all has to do with selecting locations for the Skyview components and everything else that has to go behind the panel.

HI Stan-
My radios are up the left side of the panel, as I will be using my
throttle hand to tune them. Getting the knobs and switches off the
centerline of the panel improves crashworthiness, as well.
