Thanks Roger
I passed the information on. The owner
arranged for a Rotax maintenance engineer to come to the airfield & he found
the starter sprag clutch causing the starting problems and that the soft
start had not been connected. No explanation was found as to why it ran
rough on the UL91 but runs fine on 100LL & UL91 now so will run on the UL91
to protect the engine from the lead.

91 oct or 100LL should have had no affect on starting alone. Something else had to be involved and masking the issue.
