Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help. I have an out of date (but still very good) Lowrance 2000c GPS. The manufacturers have long since stopped supporting this device so I can get no help from them. I am trying to link this unit into a ‘Navaid AP-1 autopilot. Does anyone know how to set up the output port on my Lowrance GPS so that it will talk to the autopilot?
Pete
PS Simple question but is there a simple answer??

Pete, have you tried a google search for the manual?
Just tried Lowrance GPS 2000c Manual and came back with a few promising links to PDf docents that might provide the answer.

Thanks Alan for that idea. Good idea but the manual refers you to Lowrance support for setups for different devices. Unfortunately Lowrance are just not interested and suggest you buy a Garmin??!! Such a shame because the 2000c is a great instrument. I guess they could not compete with the sheer mass of the Garmin organisation for aviation products.

Through a photo copier and outputting it to a PDF file then selling the thing on CD for a few bucks
Worth a look, good luck

Hi Craig,
Thanks for that. I have got the original manual but all it says about the settings is that you need to set the send and receive ports according to Lowrance support. Lowrance support does not support the 2000c any more and have not do so for about three years hence they are useless as far as assistance is concerned.
I guess I need help from someone who set their system up a few years back.

Pete - you might try posting your query on the Matronics Avionics list. The traffic is low (not many postings), but people there seem to display a wide range of knowledge in response to the most obscure queries.

Peter,
The manual here: http://www.sportys.com/source/slashpages/manuals/2034.pdf
Appears to quite detailed on Page 82. The only ref to manufacturers is with ref to the wiring for the unit.
Is it the settings or the wiring?

Hi Alan,
OK my problem is what boxes to tick on the Lowrance setup.
The first page gives a choice of NMEA output, NMEA input, or NMEA GPS input. I presume I should tick the first one ie NMEA output.
Once you make this choice then you have to CONFIGURE NMEA, this gives me the option of choosing one or more of the following:- GLL, RMC & RMB, GGA, GSA & GSV, or APB.
All this leaves me stone cold as I have no idea what any of these options mean or refer to. Have you any thoughts on any of that?
Hopefully
Pete

Ah now I get it.
NEMA output and then RMC & RMB.
Based on what's used on my Trutak set up.
Speed is 4800
Probable best if you ring or let me know when you next at WAP and I can help.
