My problem is the opposite of what most owners are complaining about. I have a lightning with the stock firewall forward setup. Even in the summer with the normal high desert temperatures my CHT's run between 235 and 265 degrees except #2 which seldom exceeds 205 degrees. My oil temperature will not exceed 170 degrees unless I completely block the air vent for the finned pan.
In the winter I baffle 50% of the regular oil cooler and all of the pan vent to reach 170 degrees for the oil. I baffle half of the front air intakes and put strips of metal tape on the #2 cylinder to limit air flow through that cylinder and keep the other cylinders at a reasonable temp..
I have 195 hours on the engine and the oil analysis shows normal wear in the engine and the oil filter is clean. Next I am going to try overlaying aluminum screen or perforated metal to limit air flow through the #2 cylinder. That should reduce the cooling but still keep it uniform on that cylinder.
