Does anyone know of any Europas in Russia? I am in Moscow a lot these days, and maybe there's a kindred spirit out there. I remember a map on Ivan Shaw's wall in Kirkbymoorside in 1994, stuck with pins to their export countries, and there was definitely one smack in the middle of Russia.
I imagine that the Russian CAA (or whatever they have) would fall about in hilarity if any lunatic applied to bring in a Kenya-made Europa.

I'm curious Richard, what's the state of GA in Russia? (do they actually allow it now?
Good luck in your Europa hunt,
Cheers,
Pete

Richard, there is definitively one Europa in Russia. The current owner wants to sell it already for some time. He made a video some time back:

This plane is located in Yutsa, a small city close to Geaorgia. So pretty far from Moscow!
There is another Europa in the region. N205CN is based in Kiev, Ukraine for the last 5 years. Here is a picture with 2 other Europa who flew to Ukraine last summer. We landed on a field of the Dutch farmer (also a pilot) in the middle of the country to get some fuel and some food

Hi,
There's a clip on you tube of a Russian Europa (about a year old). Not sure where exactly - has some nice low level footage (clearly no problems with the 500 ft rule !)
Perhaps someone can translate !

Ten minutes of flight at the Europa XS plane in September_HD.mp4

Thanks everyone, and especially for the video. There is hope. My wife, who is Russian, has tracked down two local aviators who speak English, and I'll be meeting up with them sometime soon in Moscow to go out to a local flying club where they have Yaks, Sukhois and a couple of 172s. Its now snowing full-on, going to be the way for a while, I'm on child duty with our 1 year old and 6 year old, plus Kenya work continues (its a hell of a commute), so it may be in the spring. Will let you know state of GA.
Cheers
Richard
